MEQUON — After nearly four years in the Mequon Public Market, Falafel Guys will close the doors to its current location at 6300 W. Mequon Road, on Sunday.

"With heavy hearts, Falafel Guys wants to announce that April 28th will be our last day. We want to thank each and every one of you for your patronage over the past 11 years," the restaurant posted on Facebook Thursday.

According to Mequon Public Market Manager Brittany Mattson, owner and Cedarburg resident Ron Stroli shared his intention to retire from the restaurant business last month and close the restaurant as a whole. She said that they are currently evaluating potential vendors for the space.

"This presents a fantastic opportunity, with the option of a turnkey space complete with equipment," Mattson added.

Having served his authentic Middle Eastern cuisine throughout the Milwaukee area for three years, Stroli expanded his popular food truck into a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 105 W. Freistadt Road, Thiensville in 2015. The eatery then transitioned to its current venue in August 2020 after three businesses announced their closures within the market due to the pandemic.

Chrissy Stroli told the News Graphic at the time that their newest location brought some slight menu changes, but mostly kept everything else the same.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
